Setting up camp!
3rd Hiking Trail we went down - this leads to a cave but we did not go up the cliff face because that just seemed like a bad idea without proper gear.
This was Satis just chillin in our camp site.
Trail #2. This was at the beginning of a trail and we were not sure what to expect. Turns out this was the best trail of the 3.
1st hiking path actually started pretty close to our camp site. But it had pretty trees in the beginning but then everything looked dead.
Dead trees I mentioned - there are several pics like this as the trail was surrounded. Oh well they make for good camp fires.
Satis and Dead trees on the 1st trail still.
Cell towers etc. off in the distance. I have actually hiked up that direction before but was better to stick to trails this time I thought.
Crazy huge red ants!
cute bridge on trail #2
The trail had two benches. This one had lots of high grass around it and after the bite the last time I went camping I was having none of this bench.
Satis was way more brave and he thought he would be able to convince me to go over there if he went first. Nope!!! I figure I would taste better anyway so I was still not going there.
Another bridge - this one was a little less trust worthy. I made sure to walk along a beam that I knew ran the length of the bridge just in case.
Top view - Satis was throwing away trash!! I don't understand why this is so hard for people - We always try to throw away more trash than we bring - I mean who wants to camp and hike in a trash filled area? rude people.
steep hill. I had to walk down and up this in flip flops once when I went camping and accidentally locked my keys in my car. That was not fun - but luckily I knew were the ranger station was so they could call for someone to break into my car for me.
Satis cooking our dinner while I cut up potatoes!!
As you can see he is proud to be super cook.
We decided we would burn logs in half versus saw them in half as the saw I have for camping is ok on smaller stuff but not bigger logs. It works great!
My hat and pack in the background with my little broom and dustpan. I do not like dirty tents!! I love my day pack/camel back!!
I had fun cooking potato. Satis kept saying I was burning him but... he was delicious and Satis even kept sneaking bites.
The red tent was our gear tent. I had bought a cheap extra tent for friends in case they wanted to come. it is super light and easy to ruck if needed so good to have. Drinking the king of crap beer Bud Light!
View of our nicer tent. This one was super easy to set up and had great reviews. Plus it is pretty light for ruck though not as light as the smaller tent but this one is like 9' X 9'. And!!! you can stand up fully in it which I think is really a comfort must.
Great base coals - so awesome we didn't have to rebuild the fire the next day just toss more wood on top which was nice cause it got really cold at night.
Close to the falls there are several old stone buildings - I have been up in them before so I didn't feel the need this time but I took pics for you to see.
Those girls are crazy to get into the water. That water would be freezing.
Turner Falls. The water is super low this time of year. I will try to find a few pictures from years past for you to compare at a later time.
Wagon Wheel Cave at the top. They will no longer let you climb up to that cave :(
